I shall record the irritating events of today, Dissidia style.
It was a fairly lovely day, when Firion continued his quest for his crystal.
After several battles with several Mannikins, namely Phantalasm Girls and Delusory Knights. Not long had he given Cecil the advice of staying away from Golbez when he himself, came face to face with a portal. Firion knew somehow, through his previous experiences, that this portal, which gleamed a bright electric blue in the noon sunshine, had the ability to transport him. It might just be the road leading to the crystal which he is to obtain. He was hopeful. Once the crystal was obtained, it would mean Cosmos’ victory, and unltimately, Peace. Peace was what Firion had hoped for since he embarked on this adventure. It was only in a world of peace that wild roses would thrive and blossom in the many fields. Firion accepted the truth that this was indeed a childish dream, but he continued believing in it, anyway.
He put one foot in the portal, then the other, and braced himself for whatever impact that might be experienced. Within the next second, darkness engulfed him. He realised that he was travelling through a vortex of time and space continuum. As suddenly and quickly as it had come, it ended. Firion stepped out, to find himself in what seemed to be a library.
Shelves and shelves of books filled the room. The only table available in the entire room was the wooden oak one at the opposite end. It was surrounded by four chairs and a man of gargantuan built sat on one of the chairs, his back to him. Firion scrutinised the sillhouette and approached with stealth… and he knew immediately.
Golbez.
It was no wonder that he looked so familiar. The way Golbez sat as he poured over the pages of the books were almost identical to Cecil, his very own brother.
“CURSES!” Golbez yelled and with the strength of an elephant, threw the book he had been reading towards a corner of the library.
Firion had a hard time trying to stand still within the shadows as the impact caused by Golbez’s throw had been overwhelming. Still, he managed.
“I know you’re there,” Golbez’s voice was low, cold and hard.
“The portal… you must have placed it in my path…” Firion finally realised.
“Indeed. I will now, with a Dark Knight’s Honour, request to spar with you,” Golbez now faced Firion, with his dark armour and helm.
“I will gladly accept. I am, however, curious of the reason that lies behind this request,” Firion drew his axe to prepare himself.
At the same time, Golbez drew his sword, “Your ignorant meddling with our family matters.”
Golbez stabbed the sword into the parquet floor, once more causing an earthquake. Firion only just had enough time to lift himself into the air with a simple leap. Firion tossed his axe towards the Dark Knight, boomerang style. It was a clear hit which sent Golbez flying in the air despite his size. Just as he expected, the axe returned, dragging Golbez along. Firion wielded his other weapons, a lance, a sword and a dagger. He unleashed the final attack. Golbez was tossed towards the shelves, sending them crashing down like dominoes.
Golbez managed to lift himself just enough to face Firion as he spoke, “You just got lucky. Next time, I’ll be back with larger earthquakes.”
Before Firion had a chance to reply, the surroundings faded, and changed to the path he had been travelling on. The shelves, Golbez, the table, they were all gone.
Firion had hoped that the crystal would appear upon Golbez’s defeat, but he guessed it had all been wishful thinking. A crystal, so powerful, which had the ability to restore world peace, would never, in any case, be obtained to easily. Golbez had merely been a distraction. He thought long and hard about Golbez’s words. Firion knew he must not let his guard down, Golbez had been easy to defeat this time round, but perhaps it was true that he merely had luck on his side. He understood that the next time he met with Golbez, the situation would not be as simple. Constant vigilance and preparation was the key, mainly to his faceoff with The Emperor, and the path to obtain his crystal.
